The first picture is of a small box that opens up to where you can put all the pages inside.

I love making mini-albums almost as much as I love giving them away. It makes me sad to let them go, but I like being able to share precious memories with those I care about. This is a Christmas Tea album for my good friend Kristina.

New Found Feature

I just found out about this new feature in my own camera, it's called "Color Accent" and it allows for me to chose one color and then make everything else black and white. That is how the flowers and the ribbon came to be colorful and everything else is in a grayscale. So cool! Specially because I don't have a photoediting program that would do this for me.

Challenge card.

This card is for a challenge that I posted in one of the MSN groups that I belong to. The challenge stated that a card or a layout had to be made using a sticky note, staple and paperclip. I add the sticky note in the picture, because if you just see the card it is hard to believe it comes from a sticky pad. Cute huh? Maybe you should try this challenge yourself.

How to “not spend” ideas:

Try not to take any card (debit or credit) where ever you go, instead be a kid again and try using cash only!!! This way you are more aware of how much you are actually spending.
Use your paper!! I know that what we have most is paper. So if you do decide to buy something, but either tools or embellishments, no more paper, and no more ribbon. For ribbon it is good to have the basic plain colors and that is it!
Once in a while look through all of your stuff, chances are that there are things I you have forgotten about and now you might have a fresh perspective on how to use them.
If you have to have a magazine each month then subscribe to one, it is cheaper and will keep you away from going inside a store.
If you can, try to do all of your shopping at the grocery store, they hardly have anything for scrapbookers.
Avoid the scrapbooking sections in stores. (i.e. Walmart)
Don't even enter Michael's, Joann's, Hobby Lobby, and if you have to, take your friend or your husband, he is sure to keep you in check. And make a list and stick with it.
Don't search for good deals. Whether you get coupons by the mail or by emails, just delete them and don't open them. If you are addicted chances are there will be something that you will like and will want to buy.
When you do decide to shop in those special dates (i.e. birthdays), don't go wild and spend $500 dollars! Look through your magazines and ads for a week prior to that date and select the things that you MUST have and stick to a budget.
One of the great things about the Cricut and the new software is that the only thing that you really need is paper. So use that to your advantage and make embellishments of your own. It will also make your page much nicer. On this blog I have made some really cute hot glue and Shrinky Dink embellishments. And at http://cricutsoftcuts.blogspot.com you can download some of my files to use with your software. The great thing about these files is that most of the things I have made are using just George, so even if you don't have all the cartridges, at least you have that one.
For albums 8.5x11” or smaller you can try and do some hybrid scrapbooking. There are some great free digital kits online that you can download, just look them up on google. And if there is a special paper that you like then you can scan it and then use it in your creation. This will save you paper and adhesive, and all you have to do is add a couple of extra elements. To get digital buttons, just scan your own, or ask a friend to scan them for you.
Of course, one of the best ways to save money is to get help from your friends. Trade with your friend half opened embellishments that you no longer want. And ask them to lend you their stamps, tools, or cartridges that you might not have.

You should print these ideas out and post them in your scrapping area to keep yourself in check. Happy scrapping!

I loved making this little set of 4 cards with their envelopes, in total I made 6 little packages like this for six lucky ladies, the only thing different was that each stripped card had a different kind of sticker on it. 24 cards and envelopes in all, but I had fun.

This is another little fast book that I made for my friend and her boyfriend. These are fun and easy to make, the most useful thing to know when making this kinds of albums is to just know your techniques, and apply as many as you can without adding too much. This was a pretty fast make as well as the previous post was.

While I was in Miami I couldn't help but bring some of my scrapbooking stuff, and after I bought my photo printer I was eager to finish at least a little project. With the help of my cousin Ainoa I created this really cute accordion album for her sharing the adventure of the time we spent together. I have never finished an album so fast, nor have I ever worked on something when I was as tired as I was that day. LOL. I love you Aini!!!

Black Friday

I am really happy the way this layout turned out. First of all, I printed out these photos from my new printer so that in itself was awesome. Also if you notice, the two small pictures that are in color, as also black and white around the edges. Thanks to my printer I was more confident in applying more digital techniques to my pictures. The title "Black" is made out of rub-ons and it has the texture of the paper under it. I embossed a "3" on one of the tags. I only wish I had a little clock item to add to the whole layout. The border was hand drawn and the parenthesis are from thin chipboard. I really loved the results.

These are the last of your pages that I will be sending in this week. I hope that you like the first two, I know that you don't like color blocking that much, but I think they came out pretty cute, the whole page has a lot of glitter so I hope you enjoy the bling also. It wasn't easy doing the page with the Zach and Lacy pictures, because I wanted to do a double page layout, but I didn't really see any other pictures that I liked that much, so I just ended up with this, which I think came out pretty cool either way. I was happy because I was able to use my big stamp in the background and my very decorative stamp all over the heart. I also sanded the ages of the picture and added lots of cute buttons. Didn't know what to add at the top with the little slider thingy, so that is up to you.

Quick 8.5x11" album

These are an example of the pages that I made for an album for a friend. Each page is 8.5x11". They are decorated simply with stamps and buttons and sometimes a combination of the two. The large spaces are for pictures and the little rectangles are for either more pictures or journaling. I stamped a really light flower with my embossing ink (but I didn't add any powder) so that they can leave the spaces blank if they wanted to. A cute title, and that is it. In total there was one patterned paper used and only two cardstock papers.

Any tiny little scrap that I have, I can just turn it into a little tag that I can use for later on a layout, a card, or even a present. Just love these little guys how they come out. Nancy, I really hope that you like this layout. It is one of my favorites of all time from the ones I have done. It took me a while to create all the transparent elements, but it was all worth it for this cute awesome layout. Notice the little safety pins with the beads. The only thing that this layout needs is some journaling.

Some people don't use flowers for layouts with boys, but you make them look grate with your choice of colors, I like the brown and blues that you used for the firsts and last layout. The middle layout with the background picture with the whole pile of papers is really cool and I really like it, specially since I would never had used the pictures that way. Thanks, I really loved your layouts.

Mini-album/Card

This is from one paper bag. I think it would make a great card like mini-album thingy. It would be perfect for a boy on his birthday. It was really easy adding those eyelets to bag with my Cropidile. I love the fact that you can add as many tags as you want because the pocket is so large. I want to add a piece of velcro so that the whole thing closes perfectly. Oh btw, I made the little "just for you" embellishment with a stamp and a little epoxy dot. I like!

I know that the picture is blurry, but you can still see how it looks like. I love this adhesive and I can now never scrap without it, it keep everything in place, and it will even glue down metal, so this one, is a keeper.

I think these are my two favorite layouts from the ones that you sent me. I love the colors and I love the theme. I would have done the second picture more about them being brothers than about them singing, so the way you though about the whole thing really inspires me to look a thinsg a little different. I just love all the elements on these pages too. Love the paper clips on the top one and the stars, chain, picks, and tickets on the other one. It really gives these old pictures a great look. :o)

What are we going to do? We will be working on 2 or 3 projects that you will be making from scratch, this website has some examples of the many possible projects we will be working on.

Do I bring pictures? Please bring pictures if you want, and if you are please bring a lot of them. Like maybe around 30, we might not use all of them, but just bring them.

What else do I have to bring? Well you don't have to bring anything, but if you have already started scrapbooking then you can bring some of your stuff if you want, like your favorite papers or embellishments or pictures.

I have started a scrapbook already, is this class for me? Don't worry, I will show you the wonders of mini-albums and many techniques to go with them. You will walk out of my class full of inspiration and ideas that can be applied to the scrapbook you are already working on.

What if there is no more space in any of the classes? Well, I am pretty certain that if you can get 10 people, then it will be possible to open another workshop and this time you can choose from a mini-albums or a regular scrapbooking class.

I want to take another class. Well I am pretty sure that next Spring I will have a 7 day class, and it will be very different from the workshop but just as great if not better with all the different projects that I have to offer, and many more techniques and ideas.

This is a tag wallet that I made for my friend Nancy. The little wallet is made from an altered 12x12 inch piece of paper (you have to cut it a little, can't remember how much), and folded just right to accommodate two pockets in the outside and two on the inside. With the little extra strip, I was able to decorate all 6 tags.

I have this cartridge too. I'll post up some example soon, of what you can do with these. I love to use chalks on these, it gives the animal great dimension. The features for this include, just the head of the animal, a shadow, a blackout outline, a bookmark, a border, and a word that can either be the sound of the animal or a word that deals with animals. (i.e. Roar, and Wildlife)

My new Cricut cartridge

I just love all the things that you can make with this cartridge. The first two pictures shows all the different designs, and the last one shows all the different features. For example, for each image you can make a tag, a card, a charm, a border, a shadow for your piece, or a solid cut out that just shows the outline of your image. It's just awesome. My favorite of all of them.

Happy B-day center piece

This a present I made for my mom. The idea is that my sister who is throwing the party should place this in the middle of the table as a banner. And then my mom can take it after the party is over. It doesn't show it in these pictures, but in the middle of "Happy" and "B-day" there is a space where I wrote a little letter to her. I just think it came out great. And the best part is that I just used two sheets of card stock and scraps I had in my stash.

This Triangle mini-album is all of my own creation. I think it would look great just being propped open on a table just like on the first picture. I think that next one I make will be with a triangle cover to match instead of with a rectangle cover. This cube is just adorable. The white spaces are meant to have pictures, and you can make each side with a different pattern paper if you like. I have also left one side open so that I can add stuff inside if I want, but you can choose to close it all all sides. It would also be a good idea to make a few of these and then hang them from the ceiling. Now that would be neat.

I really like this little tag book holder. If you fill the whole thing up I bet it would just look great! I used three papers to make this one, but I could have at least added one more and it would have made for a even bigger star. A snow theme for this album would just be great since it kinda looks like a snowflake. :o)

My 11th b-day maze mini-album

This is my favorite album type, Maze mini-album, decorated to show my 11th birthday. I really love how it all came out. I clear embossed the front. And in one of the pictures you can see the tag that is comming out of a pocket. I just love this one.

Oh, yeah. The first and last pictures show the album in this jewelry box that I purchased at Joann Fabrics. It fits perfectly. The album measures are 3.5x3.5 inches.

Waterfall mini-album

This is my newest album technique. I also copied this from someone else's pictures and then just figure it out on my own. The whole thing measures 3x7 inches. There are six layer and in each layer except the last one there is a letter spelling the word Girly. Any 5 letter word is great for it, and you can even use some 4 letter words like Love, with a little heart at the end. This album is simple but cute. Each page is made out of thin chipboard.

Techniques 2

The first three images are examples of simple cute little items that with a few alterations can make them into something new and fresh.

The last picture is one of the matchbook that I had posted earlier. I just wanted to show the inside where to different stamps are layered together. I like the effect. I also wanted to point out that I used gold glitter glue on the silver staple to make it more festive. :o)

My childhood

These are some really easy double page layouts that I made for some of my childhood pictures. They are just so easy to make and look great, they seriously just take a matter on minutes. From top to bottom the titles are as follow:

Barbie Love, Building from the ground up, Everyday Smiles, Jucaral, Tia Rosa, and Water love. (LOL I just realized I used "Something Love" in two layouts! Oh well...)

The tag on the layout title "Building from the ground up" was made in a dymo label maker with plain paper and then later inked to show off the letters better.

The last layout "Water Love" was created using the 12x12 efficiency cut technique, which of course makes making the page a whole lot easier.

This is one of the layouts that I made for the 4th of July. I am not too crazy about it, but I still think it is kinda good. I had a hard time using the colors of the pattern papers because they are so muted. Well, at least I tried.

These are some items that I have to send out for the swaps that I am in right now. My favorite one is the turkey with its embossed feathers, however, it took me forever to make them, specially since I think I ended up doing about 12 of them. LOL The other ones are of course a tag for fall, a journaling block for thanksgiving, and a matchbook for Christmas. I think they all came out pretty cool. :o)

Maze mini-album

I think that of all the mini-albums that I know how to do, this one here is my favorite. All the pages are made from one 12x12 page and when you make it just right then you will have two little pockets like the one I am opening in the picture where you can add a small photo or tag. It can open like a regular book, or you can strech it all the way out.

This is one of my favorite albums to make and to give. They are really easily done and I just love how they come out and the versatility of them. I am not sure that I have the instructions for this in my group, but I think next time I make one I'll take step by step pictures so that I can share them. I call this the Diamond mini-album, but I think most people call it the exploding album.

Handy tag folder

This is a great little tag folder really simple to make out of a 12x12 page. On one side you have all the tags, and on the other side is just plain with the printed line paper you see in the first picture. I really like this little tag album thingy because you can add a whole lot of pictures, or just a few and it will still look complete. You can put pictures in the pockets, or on the tags, or on the back.

Folding closet mini-album

It is hard to see how this little album works, but I wanted to post pictures of it anyways, If I decorate another one with pictures and all, then I will also post those pictures so that you can see it better. I like this album because it is thin but a lot of pictures and embellishments can fit in it, not to mention that it's a good size at 6x6in. For better results, use print paper that is double sided.

Accordion closet mini-album

I coppied this album form a picture I saw in a website. It is made out of 6x12 papers. It is supposed to have a couple of more things that need to be added after I put pictures. With photos it will look really great. I made the little paperclip charm by stacking up 4 punched out flowers and gluing them onto the wire. I really like how it came out, and practically all of the materials were left overs.

Paper bag mini-album

This is my Halloween paper bag album decorated with one orange cardstock page and one Halloween print page from DCWV Fall stack. I also used a silver pen, some ribbon and the 2 for $1.00 stamps at Michaels. To attach the pages I punched 3 holes through each folded paper bag. Let me know what you think. :o)

As of today:

The new Fall semester starts tomorrow. I really don't feel like going to school again, but I do still feel like becoming a teacher, so I guess I have no choice.

Lately I have been doing a lot of scrapbooking on mini-albums which I like so much, but I have also been scraping a lot of old pictures from the time when I first lived in the USA. Hopefully I will start taking many pictures of my projects and I will start posting them here for my scrapbooking buddies to see. We'll see how it goes.
